Jammu, Jun 05 (KNO): “Environmental preservation is not merely a choice, but a necessity for survival of the human race. We must act decisively to maintain the ecological balance through all necessary measures,” stated Minister for Food, Information Technology, Transport, Youth Services and Sports, Satish Sharma.
The Minister, while addressing today during celebration of World Environment Day at the Road Transport Corporation Complex, Jammu, emphasized the critical importance of balancing conservation and sustainable development.
The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from the senior officers from various departments, environmental enthusiasts and RTC officials.
The Minister highlighted the growing environmental challenges faced by the world and emphasized the need for collective responsibility and action to preserve nature. He called upon the departments under his charge, especially those dealing with transport and youth services, to lead by example in adopting eco-friendly practices. He urged the youth to become active participants in the green movement, stating, “the younger generation holds the power to shape a sustainable future. It is our duty to equip them with the awareness and tools necessary for environmental stewardship.”
On the occasion, Managing Director RTC, Rakesh Sarangal, outlined various steps being taken by the Corporation to reduce its carbon footprint. These included introduction of energy-efficient vehicles and digital solutions to minimize paper usage.
As part of the celebration, a tree plantation drive was carried out within the premises, reinforcing the message of sustainability and care for nature.
This year's theme of Environment Day "Our Land. Our Future.", resonates strongly with the initiatives and commitment shown during the event.
The event concluded with a pledge by all the attendees to adopt environmentally responsible behaviour in both personal and professional spheres—(KNO)
